Business without Whatsapp possible?
We can confidently say you manage your office on Whatsapp, right?
Everybody does in India and worldwide. Without whatsapp it will be difficult to manage office work.
In India, lakhs of businesses use whatsapp for internal and external communication. To communicate with employees, clients and vendors, everywhere whatsapp is used. Many of these conversations may be confidential. But due to a new development, this may have to be stopped now. It will be a big blow to business and profession. Yes, all can shift to rival apps like Telegram or Signal but it is not going to be easy.
New Privacy Policy by Whatsapp
Whatsapp introduced new Privacy policy in India in January under which it could share limited user data with Facebook and its group firms and received a major backlash from public. Even government asked them to withdraw it. Whatsapp tried to explain that the update was focused on allowing users to message with businesses and would not affect personal conversations.
They extended the timeline and it was felt that owing to market pressure they will ultimately withdraw it.
But whatsapp is all set to continue with the new policy.
WhatsApp said on Thursday it will go ahead with its controversial privacy policy update but will allow users to read it at "their own pace" and will also display a banner providing additional information.
What are implications
There is no much clarity what it means. So many of the businesses may decide to shift sensitive information sharing to other apps like signal and telegram. It will be very difficult as one doesnt know which apps will be preferred by their clients or vendors. There will be some disturbance in the system for some time.
What action will you take?
